FASA seeks clarification from CMS concerning pain procedures
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, April 11, 2006
The Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA) is asking any ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) providing pain management procedures to contact the association if the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) tells them that they may be violating Medicare conditions of coverage and thus could be cited during Medicare surveys.
FASA said on its Web site that it believes this is a "mistaken interpretation" of the conditions of coverage and is seeking clarification from CMS.
If your ASC is cited during a survey or hears from CMS surveyors that pain procedures are not allowed in ASCs, send this information to FASA@fasa.org.
