Female employees concerned for their safety at CA hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, March 27, 2006
Several female employees say they are concerned for their safety after a couple of recent assaults at Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital in Valencia, CA, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
In January, a cleaning woman said someone grabbed her in the men's bathroom while she was working. She managed to escape by splashing hot water on the man.
Another incident occurred two weeks ago and the concerned employees told the Signal that they don't believe the hospital is doing enough to protect its employees.
The hospital says it offers escorts to cars and forces visitors to check in after 8 p.m., but admits the parking lot gets dark at night because foliage sometimes covers up the lighting.
