Hospital faces investigation into man killed by a taser
Healthcare Security Weekly, March 27, 2006
Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, FL, faces a lawsuit after a man died in its waiting room following a struggle with police, reports the Treasure Coast Palm.
Samuel Hair Jr. died after struggling with three officers and having a taser used on him.
A law firm is suing Lawnwood to be able to view unedited security camera footage of the incident, but the hospital is saying the tape doesn't have any footage that would help the case.
Lawyers representing Hair's estate say the footage might show potential witnesses and any other illegal wrongdoings by the officers.
