Georgia's hospitals to coordinate their communications during health emergencies
E-Health Trend Watch, March 3, 2006
Starting in January, Georgia's hospitals were wired to coordinate their communications during health emergencies such as hurricanes. The Georgia Hospital Association signed a deal with LiveProcess to provide 150 acute-care hospitals with emergency preparedness software. The purchase makes Georgia the first state to have standardized emergency software for all acute-care hospitals. The software will allow hospitals to communicate with one another to find out where they are evacuating patients and how many beds are available or to ask for volunteers. The Web-based technology will also help hospitals create an emergency management plan and help them train for disasters.
