Ekahau deploys Wi-Fi location technology for emergency management
E-Health Trend Watch, February 24, 2006
Ekahau, Inc. has developed a location tracking solution that can be used during emergencies such as earthquakes or train derailments. The solution integrates with Wi-Fi networks that are already in use in many large public and private facilities. During a recent disaster simulation drill, Wi-Fi tags were put on all hospital staff members so they could be dispatched quickly by finding their locations on a central computer monitor. Each casualty in the triage area also received a tag, so doctors could find the correct patient and maintain real-time treatment information in hospital databases. Using the technology, patients and staff were located within an accuracy of 3 m. to 5 m.
