Consumer awareness biggest obstacle to use of personal health records
E-Health Trend Watch, February 24, 2006
According to a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society survey of 440 health information technology professionals, 31% cited lack of consumer awareness as the largest obstacle to personal health record use, followed by privacy concerns, 17%; cost and "Consumers don't think it is necessary," both at 13%; and security issues, 11%. An additional 15% replied "other" or "don't know."
