Online doctor visit piloted to Microsoft employees
E-Health Trend Watch, January 27, 2006
Virginia Mason Medical Center and Premera Blue Cross are collaborating on the first pilot program to offer Web-enabled doctor visits in an open, PPO environment. The pilot launched on January 1, 2006, with 100 Virginia Mason physicians caring for a selected group of Microsoft Corporation employees and dependents. RelayHealth's webVisits technology allows patients to go online via a secure Web site using a password and respond to a set of questions regarding their conditions. This produces a patient history that is similar to what is created when a patient arrives at a doctor's office. The information will be sent to the physician's office where the physician will respond with a recommendation for care.
