NV hospital restructure costs officers jobs

Healthcare Security Weekly, March 13, 2006

Washoe Medical Center in Reno, NV, is going through a reorganization of departments that cost 17 security officers their jobs, reports KRNV.com.

Washoe officials say they want to get away from the traditional "law-enforcement-style" of security departments.

The hospital is creating a new department that will focus more on patient service, while including some security.

Fired employees may reapply for the newly created positions and will retain seniority if rehired.
