Healthcare Security Weekly, March 6, 2006
A former maintenance worker at Gundersen-Lutheran Health System in La Crosse, WI, is facing charges for stealing medical equipment, according to WXOW.com.
The man reportedly stole $57,000 worth of equipment during a three-month span in 2004 and then sold it to a Florida medical supply company.
Prosecutors say he stole blood pressure monitors and defibrillators mostly and faces a 10-year prison sentence after a security officer discovered the equipment was missing.
