Duke to roll out EHRs to 80 clinics and practices

EHR Connection, January 23, 2006

Duke University Health System will roll out EHRs in its roughly 80 health clinics and physician practices, according to Duke University Hospital. Eventually, more than 1,500 doctors will use the system to create an EHR that includes a wide range of medical specialists.

Duke will use McKesson tools for the project, which will begin with e-prescribing and later add additional EHR functions, such as viewing results online and electronically documenting patient care. The hospital system aims for a rapid deployment of the e-prescribing system, according to the hospital. Duke University installed McKesson's computerized physician order entry system last year.
