The JCAHO explores mandatory flu shots

Infection Control Monitor, January 20, 2006

The JCAHO is in the midst of a field review to weigh the possibility of requiring mandatory flu vaccinations for healthcare workers.

On a related note, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned healthcare facilities over the weekend about not using two flu antiviral medications. Amantadine and rimantadine have proven ineffective in blocking infections by the predominant flu strain this season, according to the agency.
