Pennsylvania will celebrate "Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) Week" from January 22-28, 2006.
The Senate resolution dedicating the week summarized CRNAs' contributions by stating
- CRNAs have provided anesthesia services in this commonwealth for more than 100 years
- CRNAs are state-licensed, nationally certified advanced practice nurses having specialized graduate-level degrees in anesthesia
- CRNAs are responsible for patient safety and comfort throughout procedures of varying complexity from the preanesthesia through the postanesthesia periods
- Practice settings include hospital surgical suites, obstetrical delivery rooms, physicians' offices, ambulatory surgical centers, and United States Health and Human Services military and veterans facilities
- More than 2,700 CRNAs ensure access to quality anesthesia care for residents of this commonwealth
