HHS still seeking comments on electronic claims attachments proposal
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, November 29, 2005
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has extended the public comment period for the proposed rule for electronic claims attachments by 60 days to January 23, 2006.
HHS announced it extended the deadline because of the technical nature and length of the proposed rule and the importance of ensuring its accuracy and usefulness to the industry.
The proposed rule would adopt
- two X12N transaction standards-one to request information and one to respond
- Health Level 7 (HL7) standards for the communication of clinical information
- Logical Observation Identifiers, Names and Codes-also known as LOINC®-for use in information requests and answers
