MS hospital to lock new moms in at night
Healthcare Security Weekly, November 28, 2005
The North Mississippi Medical Center's Women's Hospital in Tupelo is increasing security on its post-partum unit by locking all its doors when visiting hours end at 8:30 p.m., reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal.
The doors will reopen at 10 a.m. and will only open in between those hours for family staying with the patient.
By restricting general visitation, the hospital hopes it will enhance security as well as limiting newborns to children and adults who may be sick.
Family staying with the mother will have to use an intercom system to contact the floor secretary to be let in and out during locked hours.
