Web site allows check for sex offenders in SNFs
LTC Liability Monitor, November 24, 2005
A Web site created by California-based senior citizens rights advocate Wes Bledsoe allows Internet surfers to check whether sex offenders are living in particular nursing homes, according to TheIndyChannel.com. By logging on to http://www.aperfectcause.org, web surfers can glean information about more than 800 registered sex offenders and also link to news reports of criminal activity in SNFs around the country.
Bledsoe told TheIndyChannel.com he created the site because most nursing homes generally don't mention registered sex offender residents to their other residents' families. "We asked them why they don't do it. They said, 'Well, if we did that, no one would have put their loved one in our nursing home,'" Bledsoe said.
