Security catches man who held employee hostage
Healthcare Security Weekly, November 21, 2005
A patient at Holland (MI) Hospital held a hospital employee hostage briefly last week, and nearly escaped, reports the Muskegon Chronicle.
The mental health patient held a pen to the female hospital worker's neck, threatening to stab her if anyone came near him. He managed to use her as a hostage to escape the building, but with security following him the whole way.
Once he was outside, he let the hostage go and ran. Security quickly caught up to him and Yovan Nuno was arrested and charged with felonious assault and other charges.
The hospital admitted Nuno just one day earlier after leading police on a 42-mile car chase.
