Therapist seeks to standardize back pain treatment
Rehab Private Practice Alert, November 9, 2005
A physical therapist in Montana is looking to standardize how therapists around the country treat back pain in his new eight-session training manual called "Back Care Boot Camp," reports The Missoulian.
Brent Dodge says he wrote the book to help physical therapists get their patients through rehab because often times there aren't consistent plans.
The interactive guide helps therapists learn to pass on the necessary information to patients so more time can be spend on evaluation and treatment. The guide focuses on the principle that having patients do their normal functions is better than getting rest.
The premise is for therapists to go through the manual with their patients to help eliminate some of the fears patients often have about back problems.
