WA security guards catch teen attacker

Healthcare Security Weekly, October 24, 2005

Two security guards from Western State Hospital in Lakewood, WA, helped capture a man who attacked two teens, according to KOMO-TV in Seattle.

Authorities say Tasman Vann attacked two teenage girls at a bus stop in front of the hospital and then walked away after one of the girls kicked him.

Several hospital employees witnessed the attack and alerted hospital security. Security officers Alexia Rodney and Eugene Jones stopped Vann on the street and detained him simply by talking to him until Lakewood police arrived.

Vann was a former mental patient at the hospital and denied doing anything wrong. Police took him into custody and charged him with second-degree rape for sticking his hand up one of the girl's skirts.
