Gloves are the first line of defense against infection.

Lab Safety Advisor, October 24, 2005

It is important to train employees in the proper method of glove selection, fitting, and aseptic removal.  Key rules include the following:

Select the right glove for each task

Inspect each glove for holes or tears and discard if damage is found

Wear gloves that completely cover the hands and wrists and overlap the

laboratory coat cuff

Remove gloves aseptically by turning them inside out before disposal

Never wear gloves in non-biohazard areas

Never wash disposable gloves for reuse
