Epocrates forms consortium to prepare physicians for technology

EHR Connection, October 24, 2005

In its continuing effort to advance the use of mobile healthcare tools among medical students, CA-based Epocrates, Inc. has created the Epocrates University Consortium.

The group of nine U.S. medical schools includes Harvard, Duke University Medical Center, and Yale University School of Medicine and aims to help prepare future physicians to use technology. Schools will distribute Epocrates products to students for use in their courses.

The Consortium will also meet several times per year to discuss how to incorporate medical technology education into curricula and the benefits and challenges of technology in medicine, according to Epocrates. Last month, Epocrates rolled out its products to more than 1,000 dental students at New York University College of Dentistry.
