The National Quality Forum on October 11 announced the endorsement of six additional consensus standards for ambulatory care, bringing the number of endorsed outpatient standards to 51.
The consensus measures will help gauge and report quality. The newly approved measures include dealing with asthma and respiratory illness; coronary artery disease; and prevention, immunization, and screening.
A complete list of the ambulatory care standards already endorsed can be found at http://www.qualityforum.org/.
These standards are part of a multi-year project to identify ambulatory care performance measures and have been submitted by the American Medical Association's Physician Performance Measure Set, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Doctor's Office Quality Project, and the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
