AMA Foundation to give grants to docs affected by hurricanes
Physician Practice Advisor, October 12, 2005
The American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation will offer grants to help physicians resurrect practices destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The grants will come from the AMA's recently formed Health Care Recovery Fund, which will serve physicians in future disasters as well. Physicians do not have to be AMA members to apply for the grants, and can apply online or by mail.
"Rebuilding the health care infrastructure after major disasters like Hurricanes Katrina and Rita is an immense challenge," said AMA chair-elect Cecil B. Wilson, MD, in a press release. "These grants will begin to help physicians get back on their feet and provide much-needed care to their patients on the Gulf Coast."
