Embattled Iowa nursing home without a steward
LTC Liability Monitor, October 6, 2005
An Iowa nursing home where a resident was allegedly raped by one of her caregivers has been without a licensed administrator for 14 months, the Des Moines Register reported. In the midst of their case against a 44-year-old nurse aide charged with sexual abuse and exploitation of a resident, investigators said state records showed Adair Community Health Center violated state regulations. An Iowa SNF may not lawfully continue to operate for more than six months out of a calendar year with an unlicensed, temporary administrator, the Register reported.
Adair has a good history of compliance with health and safety regulations, although it was cited and fined three years ago for failing to conduct background checks on four workers hired in 2001.
