Arson alleged in Florida assisted living facility fire
LTC Liability Monitor, October 6, 2005
Police determined a 73-year-old resident set fire to an assisted living facility in Miami Lakes, FL, this week, sending a 78-year-old woman to the hospital, according to The Miami Herald. Eight elderly residents and two employees were also forced to flee the K&K Adult Care Center, which was totally consumed in the flames.
In addition to the hospitalized resident, two residents were treated for smoke inhalation. Investigators did not disclose how they were able to link the fire to resident Pedro Sanchez. He was charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery, with more charges expected, the Herald reported.
