Security guard admits to stealing from sick children
Healthcare Security Weekly, October 3, 2005
A security officer from Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, Canada, admitted to stealing video games that people donated for ill children, reports the Edmonton Sun.
Prosecutors say Michael Desjardine stole more than $10,000 worth of goods from the hospital, including video games, cash, computers, and electronic accessories.
He stole the cash from the lost and found and took hospital master keys, which he never got to use.
The robberies took place from July 2004-March 2005, and Desjardine pleaded guilty to a charge of theft of more than $5,000.
