Many insurance companies offer online ratings for hospitals; doctors next
Physician Practice Advisor, September 28, 2005
Many insurance companies that provide online hospital ratings comparisons are now providing online physician ratings comparisons, the New York Times reports.
Insurers jumping onboard with online hospital and physician comparisons include Wellpoint and Humana, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna. A recent organization to join the trend is Michigan Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which started on September 1.
Data for the comparisons come from medical records, patient surveys, medical payment claims, and hospital reports to Medicare.
