JCAHO, NQF announce 2005 Eisenberg winners

The JCAHO and National Quality Forum (NQF) on September 20 honored healthcare professionals and organizations for quality and patient safety innovations with the annual John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Awards.
The JCAHO and NQF honored the following people and organizations:
- Audrey Nelson, PhD, RN, the director of the Patient Safety Research Center at James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital in Tampa, for her work in patient safety and advocacy for those with disabilities
- The Maryland Patient Safety Center, for implementing a public-private statewide approach to improve patient safety by studying and learning from medical errors
- Meridian Health in New Jersey, for embedding evidence-based practice guidelines into their computerized physician order entry system
There was no award in the research category this year, according to the JCAHO. The awards will be given at the NQF's annual meeting in Washington, DC, on October 6.
