CMS releases evaluation version of Vista-Office

Physician Practice Advisor, September 21, 2005

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released an evaluation version of Vista-Office on Monday.

The software is a version of the same electronic health record (EHR) software used by the Veterans Health Administration, adapted for use in physicians' offices.

"The evaluation version will be distributed by qualified vendors and evaluated for usability, effectiveness, implementation and potential for what is known as interoperability, or the ability to communicate, exchange, and use data with other systems and software," according to a September 19 CMS press release.
