PA practice using video game for therapy
Rehab Private Practice Alert, September 14, 2005
A Philadelphia physical therapist is offering patients the chance to rehab injuries through a virtual reality video game, reports WFIE-TV in Evansville, IN.
The game projects patients onto a screen and into a setting that leads them through standard therapy exercises.
Richard Actman, a therapist with the Rehab Network, P.C., says his patients like the game because it keeps their mind off the hard work of physical therapy.
The game is best for patients with elbow, knee, and rotator cuff injuries, though it also works for balance problems, and in some cases can be such a good workout, people can use it to get in shape.
