Healthcare Security Weekly, September 5, 2005
Freemont (CA) police arrested a man suspected of breaking into a doctor's office at Washington Hospital and stealing a shopping cart full of items, including a wheelchair and a safe, according to Inside Bay Area.
Hospital security caught the burglary on tape and called police as the suspect attempted to leave the facility.
When the officers arrived, the suspect was pushing the shopping cart down the road exiting the hospital, but he fled after seeing the police, leaving the cart behind.
After a brief pursuit, police caught up to the suspect and charged him with burglary, receiving stolen property, and violating his parole.
