AORN requests comment on handling specimens practice
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, September 6, 2005
The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) is requesting public comment on its proposed recommended practices for the care and handling of specimens in the perioperative environment.
The practices are intended to provide guidelines for periopertive nurses when working in an environement where operative and other invasive procedures are performed, according to the proposal posted on the AORN Web site.
"These recommended practices provide guidance for the implementation of containment, identification, labeling, preservation, transfer, transport, and disposition of surgical specimens," according to the proposal.
The deadline for submitting comments is September 23, 2005.
