AMA coordinating Katrina relief efforts
Physician Practice Advisor, September 6, 2005
The American Medical Association (AMA) has contacted the Department of Health and Human Services to assist with Hurricane Katrina disaster relief, according to announcement on the AMA web site. The AMA, Centers for Disease Control, and other health organizations participated in a conference call on Thursday to discuss coordinating the response to Katrina.
"The AMA is extremely concerned about the welfare of the victims of the hurricane as well as the emerging medical and public health problems caused by the ongoing flooding," said the announcement.
Physicians interested in helping during the crisis should check the AMA Web site for updates.
