CMS schedules roundtable discussion on NPI
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, August 23, 2005
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has scheduled a roundtable discussion about the HIPAA National Provider Identifier (NPI).
The conference call will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 2:00 p.m.
According to CMS, the NPI will replace healthcare provider identifiers in use today in standard healthcare transactions. The health plans with whom you do business will instruct you as to when you may begin using the NPI in standard transactions.
All HIPAA covered entities except small health plans must begin using the NPI on May 23, 2007; small health plans have until May 23, 2008.
The call in number for the roundtable discussion is 877/203-0044. Use identification number 5580762 to gain access to the discussion.
