Woman carjacked at FL hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, August 15, 2005
A man carjacked a female hospital worker at gunpoint when she arrived for her shift at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany, FL, reports the New Albany Tribune.
The victim told police that a man approached her in the hospital's parking lot with a gun and forced her to give him her keys. She followed his instructions and he drove off with her car, leaving her unharmed.
Hospital officials are now reviewing their security measures since security cameras caught the incident on tape. However, the tapes weren't clear enough to identify the attacker's face.
The victim arrived at the hospital at around 9 p.m., and the New Albany police praised her for doing the right thing by quickly giving up the keys and following instructions.
The hospital says it was the first incident of its type and that the parking lot is well-lit with 24-hour surveillance.
