Grassley seeks information about QIOs
Quality Improvement Monitor, August 18, 2005
The chair of the Senate Finance Committee wants more information about the role quality improvement organizations (QIOs) play in Medicare, according to the August 16 BNA Health Care Daily Report.
Senator Charles Grassley, R-IA, sent a letter to CMS Administrator Mark McClellan on August 11 requesting information about QIOs involved in the most recent three-year contract with Medicare. Most of the information requested related to QIO board members, BNA reported.
Grassley requested the information in light of concerns that QIOs are not adequately protecting Medicare beneficiaries, BNA reported.
