Medicare no longer reimbursing ASCs for NTIOLS
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, August 16, 2005
Ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) can no longer receive an additional $50 reimbursement from Medicare for inserting New Technology Intraocular Lenses (NTIOLs) following the completion of a five-year Medicare payment adjustment, according to a new transmittal released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Beginning October 3, Medicare will no longer pay ASCs the additional $50 for NTIOLs insertions performed on or after May 19, 2005.
