CMS issues list of CLIA waived tests
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, August 16, 2005
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a transmittal detailing a list of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) waived tests effective October 1, 2005.
CMS regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the United States through CLIA.
The transmittal informs contractors of new waived tests approved by the Food and Drug Administration under CLIA.
