Consumers in some regions are flocking to a new kind of quick-service clinic, at which nurse practitioners diagnose and treat minor, common ailments such as strep throat, pink eye, and bronchitis. The average visit does not require an appointment and costs the patient less than $50-or the cost of a doctor's visit copay if the patient has one of several major health insurance plans that cover the service.
