Grant helps NC hospital add infant security

Healthcare Security Weekly, July 11, 2005

Part of a $141,249 grant will fund added infant security at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro, NC, according to the Rocky Mount (NC) Telegram.

Though the hospital has never had an infant abduction, the administration is looking for different security options that would sound an alarm when a baby is taken out of assigned areas.

"People are always telling our physicians, 'Give extra protection for my baby,'" a hospital spokesperson told the paper. "Society is concerned, and we want to be proactive."

Some of the money, given by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust of Winston-Salem will also go to upgrading cardiac care and patient comfort.
