NC hospital unveils emergency department management system
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 4, 2005
NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, NC, unveiled its emergency department (ED) management system two weeks ago in order to make ED care safer for patients, according to the Independent Tribune.
The new system will make an electronic record of all patient information to be accessed anywhere in the hospital.
"It's not like having a chip implanted in a person's arm, but it's the next best thing," clinical nurse specialist Tammy Williams told the Independent Tribune.
The system will track height and weight, medications, allergies, and all past conditions of the patient.
The system should help the hospital speed up patient care and prevent medical or medication mix-ups.
