PA representative seeks infection data

Infection Control Monitor, June 24, 2005

A Pennsylvania state representative is introducing a bill that would require all hospitals in the state to publicly post infection-related data, reports the Patriot News in Harrisburg, PA.

The proposed bill would give consumers the information to choose from hospitals they consider the safest, while also giving health insurers data on each infection, making it easier to determine the total costs of hospital-acquired infections.

The bill already has support from the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO labor organization and the Chamber of Business and Industry.
