JCAHO: 12% of hospitals require hand hygiene improvement

A 2004 JCAHO poll revealed that 12% of healthcare organizations require improvement to comply with hand hygiene policies. The response among IC professionals (ICP) varies from astonishment that the number is so high to surprise that it isn?t significantly higher. However, all parties agree that significant policy changes are in order.
The JCAHO released the survey results during a March audioconference, "Challenging Standards in the Hospital Accreditation Program: Strategies for Compliance."
