Lab Safety: National Safety Month
Lab Safety Advisor, June 7, 2005
June is National Safety Month and what better way to introduce Lab Safety Advisor than to launch it now. Each week you will receive this electronic newsletter from me, which will include a quick tip of the week, frequently asked questions and answers, and up-to-date laboratory safety information.
The emphasis on safety in healthcare has been a focus of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). An ASSE white paper from 2002 that the society frequently refers to concludes that employers who invest in safety, health, and environmental programs can get a substantial return on their investment. This is based not only through reduced workers' compensation and other costs, but also through hard-to-measure savings generated by improved morale and better community and customer relations.

In the coming months, I'll focus on a variety of aspects of laboratory safety. Thanks for reading and enjoy our debut issue.
