AAASC creates New ASC state advocacy program
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, May 24, 2005
The American Association for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAASC) has announced the creation of a new state advocacy program that "will address the emerging needs in those states considering a host of anti-ASC measures-restrictions on physician ownership, provider taxes, and onerous certificate-of-need and licensure requirements, to name a few," according to a press release from the AAASC.
The AAASC intends to continue supporting the growth of state ASC associations, while working with ASC corporations and management companies to take proactive positions on issues vital to sustaining the growth and success of ASCs.
"Perhaps the most significant outcome of this new state advocacy program is that it allows AAASC and state associations to develop a positive, proactive state agenda, rather than responding from a defensive posture to anti-ASC measures" said Craig Jeffries, AAASC executive director, according to the press release.
