State takeover of nursing home delayed

A judge has given the two sides in a debate over control of a Chicago-area nursing home until this Friday to come to an agreement, the Chicago Tribune reported. The state has requested a court-appointed receiver take over the Emerald Park Health Care Center, the Evergreen Park facility that was recently found to be home to 10 sex offenders.
The home was also fined last year for failure to supervise a female resident and has been investigated by the health department for several small fires.
Emerald Park attorney Arnold Pagniucci argued that the home does not need to have an outside administrator because it is already under 24-hour monitoring by the state, the Tribune reported.
