Hospital altercation results in police officers ear bitten off
Healthcare Security Weekly, April 4, 2005
A police officer filling in as a hospital security officer at Hunstville (AL) Hospital last week lost part of his ear during an emergency room scuffle, the Huntsville Times reported.
Emergency room visitor David Larry Jones, 35, allegedly bit off part of security officer Dewayne McCarver's ear during an altercation. Surgeons were able to reattach McCarver's ear, hospital spokeswoman Sue Esslinger told the Times. Jones, who was jailed on a first-degree assault charge, was waiting with a patient.
