Patient satisfaction survey may launch in June
Quality Improvement Monitor, April 28, 2005
CMS may launch a survey to determine patients' satisfaction with hospital care as early as June, the Wall Street Journal reported April 21.
The HCAHPS survey, which contains 27 questions, will measure patient ratings on communication, respect, compassion, and demographics. Hospitals will not be required to participate, but most that receive Medicare reimbursement may do so because CMS has not ruled out using results to determine payments in the future, the Journal said.
The National Quality Forum will approve the final draft of the survey next month, the Journal said.
