NQF proposes ambulatory-care standards
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, April 26, 2005
The National Quality Forum (NQF) has released a draft report outlining 50 standards to measure and improve the quality of ambulatory care.
The report offers national voluntary consensus standards for seven areas of ambulatory care: asthma/respiratory conditions; depression/behavioral health; bone diseases; heart disease; hypertension; prenatal care; and prevention, immunization, and screening.
The purpose of the standards is to "improve the quality of ambulatory care-via accountability and public reporting-by standardizing quality measurement in physician offices," according to the NQF.
