Man shoots at patient in Indiana hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, April 18, 2005
A man walked into the LaPorte (IN) Hospital last week and allegedly shot at a female patient on the fourth floor, reports The Herald Argus.
Shortly thereafter, police arrested Tony Ross, 40, at gunpoint in the hospital lobby.
Authorities say Ross knew the woman for several years, but were unsure about the nature of their relationship.
Immediately after the shooting, hospital security staff called 911. They secured the fourth floor, and all of the elevators, exits, and entrances to the building.
LaPorte Hospital officials plan to discuss potential policy changes regarding patient visitation.
