JCAHO establishes two ambulatory care councils
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, April 19, 2005
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has established two new advisory councils to provide ambulatory care and office-based surgery professionals with a number of new opportunities.
The two councils, the Medical/Diagnostic Advisory Council and the Ambulatory Surgery Advisory Council, will "offer advice and insight about the accreditation process," according to a statement on the JCAHO's Web site.
The Medical/Diagnostic Advisory Council will represent organizations providing medical care, rehabilitation, and imaging services. The Ambulatory Surgery Advisory Council will represent the free-standing surgery marketplace.
"The Joint Commission will seek feedback from these councils on a variety of subjects, such as suggestions for improving the accreditation process, enhancements to standards to improve patient care and patient safety, legislative and regulatory changes, and an assessment of business and marketplace trends," according to the statement.
